No matter how many times you have moved throughout your life, there always seems to be a sense of uneasiness and stress. From packing up your belongings to transferring utilities, there are usually many to-do’s that are out of your normal routine when it comes to moving. One way to make your relocation feel less stressful is to understand the residential moving process. Whether you have moved once or a handful of times, knowing what to expect at each point of the process helps to give you peace of mind that your move will go smoothly.
At Daniel’s, we try to keep our residential moving process as simple and as straight-forward as possible. We have found that when our clients have an open line of communication with our team and an understanding of each step in the residential moving process, they feel more comfortable with their relocation.
Our Residential Moving Process
Step One: Submit A Quote Request
To get your residential moving process started, submit an online quote form or call our office. Be sure to have an idea of your preferred moving dates.
Step Two: A Moving Consultant Will Reach Out
After you submit a quote request, a moving consultant will reach out to get some basic information and will schedule an appointment for a free in-home or virtual survey.
Step Three: In-Home or Virtual Survey
To provide you with the most accurate quote, one of our moving consultants will either complete an in-home or virtual survey. During this step of the residential moving process, the consultant will go through each room in your house and take an inventory of the items you are planning on taking with you. They will also discuss packing options for your move. After the survey is complete, the moving consultant will provide you with an estimate of your relocation costs. If you have any moving questions, this is a great time to ask them!
We know the moving industry has its own lingo. Here's a handy moving terminology guide!
Step Four: Book Your Move
Your moving consultant will give you a copy of the estimate. Take some time to review the costs, ask any follow-up questions, and make sure you feel comfortable with the movers you select. Before you hire a moving company, make sure you ask these questions.
If you decide to select Daniel’s; the moving consultant will submit your paperwork, and you will officially be on the books. At this point, you will be connected with a move coordinator who will walk you through the next steps of the residential moving process. If you have any questions, your moving consultant will still be a resource for you.
Step Five: Welcome Call
Thank you for choosing us! Once your move is registered, one of our moving coordinators will reach out to introduce themselves, confirm your details, and answer any questions you may have. He or she will be your dedicated point of contact for the rest of your residential moving process.
Step Six: Pre-move Call
It’s almost moving day! 24-hours before your move, your coordinator will reach out to confirm the arrival time of our crew, go through any final details, and collect payment if you would like to pay with a credit card.
Step Seven: Move Day
On moving day, our crew will arrive ready to get you to your new destination. If we are packing your items, our team will arrive with the materials to get you boxed up and ready to go. As professional movers, we know things may arise on moving day. We have seen a move or two and know what it takes to get the job done.
Step Eight: After the Move
After your move is completed, your moving coordinator will follow up to make sure everything went well. If you have any questions, your coordinator can help!
The residential moving process doesn’t have to feel overwhelming if you know what to expect. If you have any questions about our moving process or are looking to get a quote for your upcoming relocation, please reach out. We would love to help you get to your new destination!
